The group operates in 12 sectors, including investment and control, port construction, logistics, shipping, cruise tourism, equipment, trade, technology, overseas development, vocational education, healthcare, and service development.

SPG has estabpshed an integrated and coordinated development pattern that has Qingdao Port as the main force, Rizhao Port and Yantai Port as supporting wings, Bohai Bay Port as an extension.

Additionally, the group operates 21 main port areas, over 370 production berths, and 340 container shipping routes.

Since its estabpshment, SPG has been firmly implementing the instructions of Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, regarding "prioritizing ocean development" and "accelerating the construction of world-class maritime ports".

SPG is presently focused on building internationally leading smart and green ports, logistics hub ports, financial and trade ports, urban-industrial integration ports, and cruise tourism ports.

By leveraging port advantages for development and embracing innovative approaches, SPG breaks away from the pmitations of traditional port operations. Notably, the group has been accelerating the construction of the Northeast Asia shipping hub and has estabpshed numerous advanced models, such as the "Lian Gang Innovation Team". This has greatly enhanced the overall competitiveness and comprehensive influence of the enterprise.

SPG had in 2025 achieved a cargo throughput exceeding 1.7 bilpon metric tons and a container volume exceeding 40 milpon TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units).
