瑪麗亞·凱莉于1994年中期開始攜手華特·亞凡瑟夫構思《All I Want for Christmas Is You》，在創作過程中，瑪麗亞·凱莉為捕獲靈感，用飾品裝點錄音室。果不其然，瑪麗亞·凱莉開始精神抖擻，有信心能領悟到圣誕的真諦，傳遞出真情實感。隨后，耗時一刻鐘完成了歌曲的結構和主旋律。
